Back to basics.
I realized that I haven't really played with Blogger in a while. I finally updated my layout. I know it's ugly. One I get a handle on the new system (or old rather) I'll make it look better. For now enjoy one of the cookie cutter layouts.

Bloo...
I love it when Aurora learns something new. It's such a great moment when she actually understands it.
Today, during her bath, she was playing with her shampoo rinse cup. It's green with a blue rubber lip on it. While I was washing her toes she pointed to the blue lip and softly said "bloo." "Yes, that's blue," I replied.
I wasn't sure if she really knew it was blue or she was just saying the word. So I decided to test her. Later while I was dressing her for bed I asked her, "Show me something that blue." She then patted her blue bedroom wall and said, "bloo!" I was so happy I wanted to jump for joy. She got it she really got it! Then she point to the Mario decal on her wall and says "red." Yeah I about fainted after that.

She's growing up!
Wow, it's been almost a year since my baby came into this world. I can't believe how fast this first year came and went. Every week was different with her. She always did something new, it was amazing.
Oh something good happened last night. Aurora slept ALL night! Yeah she slept mostly though the night before, but would get up around 4 for a drink. I didn't mind waking up so I didn't try changing it. Well this morning when the alarm cock rang I turned to Will in shock. "Did you feed her?" I asked. "No," said Will. O.o Then I rushed to check on her and she was sound asleep.

He can be SO LAZY!
Ok, the baby has been sick since yesterday. She doesn't wanted to eat or sleep. Of course that means that Aurora and I are a bit edgy. For this I think I have earned my R2R (right to rant.)
Last night was so hard since there was nothing clean. I had to hand wash a sippy cup or bottle each time she woke up. While I was doing this she was upstairs screaming her lungs out. So to keep this from happing I tried to wash ALL the cups and bottles during the day. Of course I couldn't find the time.
Well, later Will wanted to help me. So I asked him if he could wash them for me. Out of a sink load he washes one! ONE! I was like WTF! I spend all night and day trying to get her to sleep and just caring for her and all he can do for me if wash ONE BOTTLE?! Then he says he's tired too...Hmm, If I remember right it was I who got up each time. I got close to 2 hours total of sleep last night and this morning. I'm WAY more tired then he is.
Anyway I dig up some energy and wash them. Oh, what was he doing this time, playing on he's computer, yeah! Then he tells me not to worry about cleaning...yeah, you do that, not me. Somehow I think he thinks all I do all day is play with the baby and fiddle with the computer. HA! I wish I could! Sure on the weekend when he is here to help I take advantage but my job is 24/7! I need a break too.
So what do I do the 2 hours (3 if I'm lucky) of total nap time? Well, I'm glad you asked!
1. Sometimes I nap with her. Especially on nights she decides to get up for a midnight snack or 2.
2.I pick up. It doesn't look like I do since this place gets SO messy fast. But believe me if I don't clean you will notice. (like today for example)
3.Hygiene. Sometimes I'm shocked that I can brush my teeth everyday. Showers are hit or miss since the pipes make noise.
4. Make something to eat. Even though this is #4 it's what I do most of the time. Sorry hunny but I don't do chicken nuggets. My food takes a little longer to prepare! Usually by the time I'm done eating she's wide awake.
5. Last but not least I care for the dogs. Poor things need attention too.
So when do I play on the computer? Well at night of course. Like most SAHMs (stay at home moms) it's the only free time we get. Hey what do you know it's night now! Wow go figure! >_<

Another sleepless night.
Aurora woke up at 9:30 screaming at the top of her lungs. Will and I tried to clam her but something is really bothering her. We gave her some Tylenol and went down stairs to watch her favorite show. She's clam and happy now. So happy she doesn't want to sleep. *sigh*
I still can't pinpoint whats wrong. It's either an ear infection or teething. I'm leaning toward teething since her gums are swollen and she has been biting her lip all day. She has no fever and when I press her ears it doesn't seem to bother her. Only once out of every 5 rubs does she bat me away or gets fussy. Hmm... I'm so confused.
I guess I'm on high baby alert tonight. Man I wish I got more sleep yesterday! *slaps forehead* d'oh!

A warm night
Well it looks like it's time to turn on the A/C. It's really warm tonight. So warm that I can't sleep and neither can Will. We're just chilling on the computers for now. Maybe I'll search Café Mom again. (woo hoo)
*stands up*
Hello, my name is Christina, and I'm addicted to Café Mom.
I'm not afraid to admit it. ^-^ I've met a lot of nice people on there. Like Will has said before, I need more friends around here. It's been hard since most of my friends moved away. The ones who did stay are not in the same stage in life. So talking about poopie diapers is not desired among them. Cé la ve!

Zoo Day
I had been looking forward to our trip to the Zoo all week long. Aurora got up an hour earlier than usual so I HAD hoped she would take her nap before hand. No such luck. She didn't want to nap at all today! She snoozed a bit during the sea lion show but that's about it. She didn't nap until 3:00 PM! That about 8 hours. That's the longest I've ever seen her go with out a proper nap. I guess she was just excited about our trip. ^-^
The zoo was PACKED. I haven't seen it that full since Mona's Birthday Bash(now known as Elephant Day since her passing.)There were 3 schools there and their parents and siblings. I'm surprised I even found the EP Café Mommies. When I drove up there was a huge gathering of parents and two school buses parked in front. I remember the security guard trying to organize it all.
I went in line to buy my ticket and got stuck behind the field trip organizer. "64 students" I heard her say. It took a while for them to process her. I'm just glad another volunteer opened a second window when she noticed how long it was taking.
We didn't stay as long as last time for 2 reasons.
1. She was very sleepy even though she was fighting it.
2. There were WAY TOO MANY PEOPLE!
Hopefully we can go again before the weather gets too hot.

Getting Better
The doctor gave Will a thumbs up on his progress so far. he still can't pick up the baby though but he can lift a little bit more weight.
They took off this bandages today. MAN! His scars look a hell of a lot better than mine. They are so tiny and you can mistake them for small moles. I'm SO jealous! Mine still look like half inch burns.
As for Aurora, she's doing better. She hasn't whined so far tonight. I just have to keep an eye on here since she keeps on shifting on to her tummy to sleep. I don't mind if she sleeps on her side but the tummy sleeping still scares me. I know she's not as mush as a risk for SIDS at her age, but I'm not taking any chances. No matter how much she cries, I'll still flip her on to her back.
It's zoo day tomorrow! I've been looking forward to it all week! I'm thinking about taking Will's camera instead of mine. I haven't decided fully yet. I'll make up my mind in the morning.

I should be sleeping.
Yeah its late, REALLY late. I just can't sleep. I have WAY too much on my mind. Most of it is useless worry. I kinda inherited the worry gene from my mom. I just wish I could turn it off.
Will, is doing well in the recovery department. Yet he still weighs heavy on my mind. I just don't want him to hurt. On top of that Aurora is getting ANOTHER tooth. She's getting one every 2 weeks it seems. Poor thing has been waking up every now and then whining. I just wish I could do more than just offer Tylenol and a prayer for both of them.

William is doing well! He is sore of course but other wise he's handling everything ok. I'm just glad he's able to recover here at home. When I got my gallbladder removed I was stuck at the hospital for almost a week! It's nice that he was out that evening.
As for me, well lets just say I've been better. With him still recovering and little Aurora to care for I've quite busy. It's nothing I can't handle, but I like to complain along the way. I'm just glad me family is happy and healthy.

Sneezy Weezy
Both Aurora and I are getting over a allergy attack. I'm shocked that she is just as allergic to grass I am.
We were outside playing in the front lawn. My Mom and Dad came over to help fix me my car. It was such a nice afternoon so I put a blanket on the grass so she could play. After a few hours of being outside I got very sniffly. Then I noticed my poor baby was feeling the same way.
It's been a little more than a day since then so we are feeling much better. I'm just on "ear infection" watch for now.

For those of you that know me, you are aware of my recent gallbladder removal. Well, tonight I'm afraid that my dear, sweet William may be going though the same thing.
I awoke to feed Aurora tonight and noticed that Will was not in the bed next to me. After searching I found him in the restroom downstairs. He was in a lot of pain and experiencing symptoms similar to myself several months ago.
He chose to go to the hospital to get help. To my dismay I was not the one chosen to go with him. He wanted his father to take him while I cared for our child. Now, I worry for him and hope he comes home well. Please pray for him.

The little Diva
Aurora is such a diva! I have NEVER been around such a demanding baby. I swear she crys for everything! I've learned what each cry means too. For example:
Waa Gaaa = "I've soiled myself and you know I like to keep clean Mommy. Fix it."
Neee neee = "Yawn, I can't stand this silly toy anymore. Do something funny or I'll scream."
Nya, nya, nya = "Where's my food Mommy, don't you make me wait any longer"
Gaaaaaaahh = "Oh no you didn't just take the bottle away before I finished."
Goo Yaaaaaa = "No more pictures, you I'll have to charge you."

Snuggle
have become a HUGE fan of babywearing. I first got interested in it when I saw my sister-in-law put her daughter in a ring sling! It's very handy. Especially since Aurora tends to be a bit colicky from time to time.
To date Aurora has two different wraps. A Moby wrap, witch you see here, and a ring sling that her auntie Amber made. I alternate between them depending on witch way Aurora wants to be held. I have found the the ring sling excels when putting her in a cradle position. But for a "hug hold" she finds the wrap much more comfortable.
If you have a baby, TRY IT! You won't believe what a help it is to have you little on strapped on you.

Poor baby!!
Yesterday I had to go though the most gut wrenching experience to date. I had to hold her down while they gave her the first round of immunizations. I have NEVER hear my little girl scream like that! It broke my heart! I know it is for her own good. It's just hard allowing a person to hurt your only daughter.
She was so happy that morning too! She is now two months old and is getting cuter by the day. I was going to take a picture of her, but I never got around to it. I'll do it this morning. That is if she feels up to it.

The truth about Grandparents
You hear it all the time, "when you have a baby you life changes." I was okay with the idea up until my parents got used to the idea of being grandma and grandpa. Now, the baby is all the talk about. Heck, it seems like the only reason they visit is to make sure the baby is alright. What about me?! I'm the one carrying it!
I have always been the spoiled one in my family. It's something I have accepted and kinda enjoy. When I was still in college I used to go home and my parents would make me dinner and do my laundry. Ah, that was the good 'ol days.
Now, I can't even have a good stress reliving cry without them yelling, " Think of the baby, it feels what you feel!" Bull shit! The baby can't feel anything but me moving around. And they wonder why I have been in so much pain. I have no release. All they let me be is "happy."
If their theory is true, why in the would would I want a child with one emotion? That's like having some sort of creepy pod child..*shudder*
"But, Christina they just want to make sure your baby is healthy"
Okay, but why on my birthday everything was laced with the baby idea? It's my day and now I have to share it! Now that's just wrong, don't you think? The card they gave me, the comments on the photo's on Flickr had to mention something about the baby!! Is that all they can tlak about?
If you are wondering, I am tired of being pregnant! I just want this thing out of me so I can go on with my life. Sharing my body with a child is not as fun as it used to be. Once the baby is born I can drop it off at their house and pamper my self like I so deserve. Yes, I'm a brat...and I don't care!

Cheerios and the Vanshing Belly Button.
I'm 20 weeks into my pregnancy now! So far things have been running smoothly. I have been feeling those little kicks almost everyday now. The kinda tickle actually. They are too soft for Will to feel well outside the womb. I still make him try though.
A friend at work asked what I have been craving the most. Strangely enough, I have been cravening mostly breakfast cereals. Apparently its not uncommon for pregnant woman to crave starchy foods. It just seems to shock people that I'm not doing the traditional ice cream and pickle route. The combo still sounds very gross to me now.
Other than the kicks and the ever growing belly, my belly button is getting really odd shaped. It kinda looks like the tip of a balloon turned inside out. I'm just waiting for it to pop out fully, which should happen in a matter of weeks. *shudder* Yeah, I find the whole belly button "pop" process disturbing.
